Quratulain Dar’s hyperrealist practice, with surrealist undertones, blurs the line between fiction and fact. Her humor-filled paintings explore dense societal issues such as the perpetuation of archaic gender roles. Her imagery draws heavily on the culture of her birthplace - a small city in Northern Punjab, Pakistan.
Quratulain has exhibited her work extensively across Pakistan, ranging from the Alhamra Art Center in Lahore, to the World Bank Campus in Islamabad. She holds a BFA from the College of Art and Design, at the University of Punjab, where she was a merit scholarship student, and graduated with distinction in 2019. She is now a visiting faculty member at her alma mater, and currently lives and works in Lahore, Pakistan.
