My practice addresses ideas of “originality”, “reality”, and “representation”. These being subjective terms, it is important to acknowledge the multitude of ways in which our understanding of the world around us shifts. Our perceptions of originality, reality, and representation are ever-changing, and collages of cropped snippets of “truth”, or someone else’s lived experience; our need to find common ground, however, means that we strive to find other people whose perceptions of the world, reinforce our own. Through my practice, I critically evaluate our need to flock together, even if it is over a flawed premise. My inspiration for the visuals I use in my work comes from newspapers, magazines, history and popular culture.
